Looking back, I’m finding filtered memories

Can I trust who I see locking eyes with me through echoed images?

What are the differences?

I’m calling out to myself, a former version of me

Are we the same I wonder, in mirrors we seek

I keep searching for the ghost I knew,

but it’s slipping slowly from my view

I’m still hurting though the pain has changed

Nothing of value was gained

Closing the door on our yesterdays

Shedding our skin but shadows still remain

I thought I knew the answers but as I’m looking back,

I find that I don’t recognize the person locking eyes with me across eclipsing time

Fragmented perceptions, as time goes on they start to blur -

Reflections of who we once were

 

Everchanging vantage points, we see the past and present self -

Like strangers’ lives in parallel
