Planes on the runway, frustration gives way to despair

All flights are grounded, all of our big plans are up in the air

Pilots all are joking, teenagers are moping, foreigners are smoking outside

Bags at the curbside, checked all the way to O’Hare

But she don’t say baby, have you got your camera, till half the way there

If I left the wrong impression

There’s something I should mention

‘Cause the air has too much tension up here

If I could make my mind up I would sleep instead

But I’m stranded… stranded in my head

It was just a missed connection, some problem with the engine, but the messages I’m sending aren’t clear

One of these mornings they’ll push this thing back from the gate

We’ll roll off the tarmac, rise over the hilltops and out of this state

But my suitcase isn’t on it; I should’ve just responded… I only wish I wanted to stay
