Top Songs of 2023: Ireland
Playlist - 100 Songs
Apple Music’s end-of-year charts are based on plays between November 1, 2022, and October 31, 2023. We might as well call this year “2023 (Taylor’s Version),” because Taylor Swift tracks account for a staggering 12 of Ireland’s 100 most-played songs on Apple Music. That’s not the full story, though: While the chart is topped by another US artist (Miley Cyrus, with “Flowers”), there’s plenty of homegrown talent to celebrate too. Dermot Kennedy has five tracks in the chart, including “Sonder,” which is still going strong as Ireland’s sixth-most-played song, and Niall Horan enjoyed a big year with his third album, The Show, and its lead single, “Heaven.” What made 2023 really exciting, though, was the emergence of some hugely promising new Irish talent. Jazzy lit up dance floors with the country’s seventh-most-played track, “Giving Me,” and rising singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot makes two appearances in the chart. Elsewhere, UK rap heavyweights Dave and Central Cee can lay claim to having the song of the summer, thanks to their chart-scaling ode to challenges, success, and Mercedes vans, “Sprinter,” and RAYE gave us one of the year’s most stirring triumphs, ending a long, frustrating wait to release her debut album by dropping My 21st Century Blues as an independent artist and scoring a No. 1 single with the scintillating “Escapism.” Revisit the songs Ireland listened to most in 2023 on Apple Music—and remember to add the ones you love to your library.
