Tekst Utworu

When exactly did the future cease being a companion that you needed?
Did the hours lose their taste with the sores they passed over the dinner table?
Learning the alphabet of a language we couldn’t yet speak
up in the attic, on an unfamiliar street.
Trying to build on the hot ashes of what they burned down for years.
My truth is small and dripping from the fire water still.
Was it disregard or bravery? I guess that couldn’t say.
Snow-covered bed-sheets, face and pillow and a little more time to stay.
And I’ll be staring at the door hoping that you caught your train.
Give me some more time. I’ll visit on your birthday
or I promise that at least I’ll try.
Was it failure of friends or just ill-defined destiny,
the absence of parental fucking advisory?
Who’s at fault, the state or God?
I wear these questions like a second skin.
It was kids helping kids instead of mothers and fathers
eho buried you after they never bothered.
They should have been your shore.
Not the water in your sinking car.
Words are like the weather. Some days they burn like the sun.
Some nights they fall like heavy rain. Make ’em come undone.
When exactly did the future cease being a companion that you needed?
Was it disregard or bravery? I guess that couldn’t say.
Snow-covered bed-sheets, face and pillow and a little more time to stay.
And I’ll be staring at the door hoping that you caught your train.
Give me some more time. I’ll visit on your birthday
or I promise that at least I’ll try.
