Nikolaj Nørlund's sumptuous music is made to be savoured. After a stint as a member of the bands Trains and Boats and Planes and Rhonda Harris, he moved onto a solo career, but continues to imbue his tracks with rich backing vocals, moody piano and plaintive strings. In later works he adds a brighter melody to his enigmatic, smoky style, but echoing guitars and murky vibes keep each song unmistakably Nørlund's. Whether paired with the Copenhagen Philharmonic or vocalising with Maria Laurette Friis, Nørlund creates a beautifully solemn sound.
