Canyon Wren

Awake at dawn

Like a bird looking for it’s song

Like the wind pickin’ up speed to race the sun

Step out to feel the cold ground against my heels

Watch the waves break the horizon

It’s a lonely place but we like loneliness

It’s an empty place but we like emptiness

The canyon wren sings its dips sings its bends

Fog rolls across the mountain

Your eyes still closed like the flowers along the road

Waiting for the morning sun to bloom

And I hear you stir like rainfall upon the desert

From the solitude of a random dream

Seabirds fly as I sit back against the rising tide

Goosebumps on my skin

The ocean’s warmer than the air I breathe
