Letra

I was taking a different route this afternoon I don't normally run that way, but I needed something new today It was the middle of everywhere in younger years I thought overgrown and abandoned lots like this all disappeared I ran down the old access road as the sun went down There parked in the failing light a limousine in pale white I got in four people that I didn't recognize stared back They were dressed in pastel colors, tangerine and wilting lilac Since I only wore my running shorts, I feared they'd find me underdressed But how could I have known when I left that I'd be a wedding guest It was dark in the limousine By Willow Springs When we were stopped by an officer He said a parade was coming So we continued our route on foot We'd keep our time But as I ran on the gravel road I heard the church bell chime I didn't want to take the wind from our sails, but I knew we ran in vain I'd already came to terms with missing all the rituals, but now I feared we'd miss champagne But I had a plan If we cut across the cemetery green, we're in the clear There in time to see you cut the cake and then I'll disappear And I'll keep running through this haunted place and through the moonlit chaparral Cause somehow I've devised for myself this living hell
