Letra

It’s raining again
In the city fulfilled with rain
The red bricks glisten like nowhere else
Giant factories now work spaces and flats for artists like myself
The street blunders glass and misplaced pave-stone
A few more vintage mobile phones
Multi-coloured spots dance around the street
People walking heavy after all it’s no small feat
To land in the living of you and me
The kids with the hoods up forgoing their meals
They might score big on the business heels
Just another Tuesday in that industrial feel
Dreaming upon this midnight city
Wondering how many are dreaming with me
But some will dream of the getting out
While others dream of getting in
A coffee and a cigarette
Gaze on the city
The lights in the day to offset the grey
The parks become festivals at first sunlight in May
The three in ten people that can’t articulate
The fourteenth person to check on you today
I’m okay, God I’m okay
Hood up, move on, look up, hood down
Arrive at your destination in the middle of town
Writing the third sketch of the lyrics you hear now
Those that have stayed wouldn’t have it any other way
'cause it’s always the same in the Manchester rain
The governing bodies are no exception
To financing fiddles and public deception
But they bolster funds and united fronts
Against racism, transphobia
Not just rebel punks
St. Peter’s Square, the protesting hub
Peaceful, cultured and full of love
Do you want a cuppa, coppa?
C'mon take off your gloves
As the leaves fall in Autumn you can feel the walls blossom
Holding in the deep thinkers or just the weekend drinkers
It’s a pleasure hearing locals display their vocals at 5am
It’s a treasure being friends with a person you’ve just met
And we talk
God we talk
This is our world in the end
It’s an honour to be northern now London can’t ignore us
We are our own place
We don’t have heat, smog or dusty plains
No
We’ve got the Manchester rain
This is glory by the name
You’ll only find me in the rain
I know you think we’re all the same
You’ll only find me in the rain
A bit of sadness is okay
Another beautiful day
