Tawnee, you had just turned 21 when I got the call saying you were gone

I had just seen you with her under two weeks ago

You got a job out in Salt Lake keeping books at a machinery shop

But you had always wanted to sing with bright lights and see the world

All the signs were right there, we just couldn't see

All the signs were right there, we just couldn't believe

You were so young, so beautiful, you'll always be

Lily and Alice, your cats, thought you were coming back stayed under your bed for two damn weeks

Cause you left that night thinking you'd be home again by three

You had so many days left to see the golden eagles from the road

And watch your dog Handsome grow up and turn gray and old

All the signs were right there, we just couldn't see

All the signs were right there, we just couldn't believe

You were so young, so beautiful, you'll always be
