I remember the day we met It was kinda awkward because we didn't know what to say to each other So we just smiled Finally I got my courage up and I approached you, said all the wrong things but you knew what I really meant We exchanged phone numbers and spent hours on the line They seemed like minutes But like they say, time flies when you're having fun Hours stretched into days, then days into weeks And our feelings grew stronger But you were afraid of yours You wanted more time. I gave it to you. It was just enough time for you to decide that you wanted to be with someone else. I took it like the man I am. Things went well for you too for a little while. But then he started doggin' you and everytime he did you cried on my shoulder, because I still cared. The grass was always greener on my side but you chose the weeds. A friend of yours told me he hurt you real bad. I picked you up only to be put down for another one. Yeah, the same story, he dogged you, too. I heard it from a friend of mine. Yes even though I'm far away, I still care. But I don't know how much longer it'll last. Some nights I lay awake staring at the ceiling thinking about how it could have been, how it should have been. They say nothing's perfect. They don't know my love for you. It seems that the good guys always finish last. Well, in that case I don't mind bringing up the rear.
