Crossing the Bridge

A cold cup of coffee

No sugar to be found

The jug of milk is empty

Early morning blues arise

The same old stories

power overrules the wise

for gods, for gold for glory

everybody wants their slice.

The sun’s not fully risen

The monster is still half asleep.

I stop just for a moment

What I see makes my heart leap.

All you early risers

The dream of love still in your eyes

We share this daily pit stop

And keep on building paradise.
