THE WAVES

The waves lap at the shore

The days pass and the shore

Is neglected by night

While the waves reflect the moonlight

I've been the shore

I've been the shore before

I want to be the waves

I feel the allure

The shore bears a heavy load

Beaten and battered 'til it finally erodes

But the waves can recede, or approach at will

Ripple gently, then be still

I've decided…to be the waves, and not the shore

Like Poseidon…I'll be out in the waves, not washed up on shore

Static and stepped on, losing more ground every year

Or rising and rolling…perfectly clear…
