Some people believe the Earth is round

Others believe it is flat

The round folks are right with one small exception

There's a hole in the floor of the ocean

This isn't a hole you could measure with string

Or with feet, or by jumping down into

It's a gap in the logic that says that the earth and the sky are all self contained

The maps do not mark it, the fish do not see it

It's not like a bath tub drain

But its surely the edge of an edgeless sphere

It's the flaw in the laws of science

You can't really see it from far away

You can't see it if you're too close

You can't use your eyes, but you can use a mirror

And you need to expect that its there

Can’t you see

The hole in the planet

Can’t you see

The gap in existence

Through this circular square you can get to the details

The cogs of the clock that make everything tick

The reason that music is more than just noise

And paintings more than wet canvas

The first one to find it came back from his voyage

And invented the word galoshes

Spent the rest of his days writing poems and rhymes

And playing checkers with little children

This hole proved to him that there’s more to life

Than just what you see and you touch

Like poetic justice, and art, and beauty

And bantering with your friends

What causes compassion, and measures out evil

And how did we think of board games

Picking up hobbies, running from ghosts

Getting to know your own soul
