I step beyond the border
Into the watching wilderness
A path left by the lost who went before
The mysteries unfurl
The mists obscure the outside world
And in the dark the shadows bloom like flowers
I hear the quiet call
Inside the darkly dreaming earth
To follow where the crawling creature goes
The creeping brightness slows
The town deserted, overgrown
And in the distance the lighthouse no longer glows
Alien to us
An attempt at survival
Like distant tide pools
Spread through the universe
Linked in ways we cannot comprehend
Ingestion of the spores
The brightness grows within
Every sense is magnified
With the dark there comes the sound
The creatures in the reeds
Every fear intensifies
The need to terraform
The writing on the walls
A living communication
The life form in the tower
So far away from home
Horrific transmutations
