As if one hundred years had never happened

We return to the carnage and killing of another time

We return to darker days

When black lives were cheap and the modicum of protection that being property offered

Had been replaced by indiscriminate violence

The unchallenged killing of freed men used to re-assert the southern whites' cultural dominance

Now present day

The lower class takes the bait

The lower class divided and conquered

Identity politics to poison the small minded

So eager to build on our differences and blind to our enemies

What we all have in common

The disenchanted and dispossessed run through a ruined system

A system that rehabilitates no one but further divides and further conquers

Only within those whom the dead and dreamless take root could an aberration so exist

A return to the lawless bloody shame of our heritage

When justice burned men alive

When civilized men claimed souvenirs of flesh

And persons unknown took life with impunity
