Exclaimed The Beaten Man.
He received another blow, then murmured
"...but here I am."
How cruel it is to feed a man,
Then whip him for each bite.
"I'll never understand
How you can sleep at night."
And so he lived to
Die another day,
Though his condition
Worsened with each breath.
There's not a soul who
Could keep on in this way.
Such a tragedy could
Only end with death.
"You ruined what
Could have been a fruitful life."
Said The Beaten Man,
Brandishing a kitchen knife.
The oppressor drew his fire arm,
But with a speedy slash
The wicked man was gone.
There was a flash of blue and red;
How quickly news had spread.
"What have I done to deserve all this?"
The Beaten Man dropped his knife and fled.
And so he lived to
Die another day,
Though his condition
