Black eyes, with a yellow beak

 Follow me all the way to work

 Black eyes, curious and bright

 Always just a tree or two behind

 If I turn around, I’ll see you there

 Keeping me quiet company

 Talking to my friends, I don’t know what to say

 Submerged inside myself, asleep but still awake

 Hide or hibernate or fly

 One tree behind, following shy

 Watching me all the way to work
