Setting Rays of Summer

Surrounded yet alone and all restraint disowned

We parted with the setting rays of summer

With no regard to time and plans laid to resign

I entered in the Earth of endless slumber

But when you drew me near, I know that you could feel me tremble

With lightning running down my spine

And then you met my eyes and one gaze turned the tides of longing

Dancing with our hearts aligned

Wisps of a song came in depths of shadow

I traced its faint flame, a burning trail leading to you

Though risky at the start to use a fractured heart

The damage seems undone each time you hold me

Without a single word, afflictions past are heard

I leave them all behind as you unfold me

And even as the light dims softly and the nights grow colder

You weave a stream to warm my bones

We give way to the fall, ablaze in darkness we surrender

Dreaming with our hearts aligned
