In the Grip of Night

I languished for so long

within these cold and lonely stone walls

I fought the beasts within

In a battle I'll never win

I'm caught in the grip of night

(lost in the purgatory)

The spell was cast upon me

There's no way out of this nightmare

Amongst the shadows of the night

Visions emerge from the other side

I plead for mercy, let me rest

But no one's there, just emptiness

The realms of night before me unfold

Relentless lands of forsaken souls

Reality and dream two worlds entwine

Questions without answers left behind

A worn out wretch of flesh and bone

Relinquished life prepared to let go

Spiraling down into darkness I cry

Oh why, why must I bear this burden of mine?

Days fold into night in draining despair

Years passing by, yet I lay down here

A slave to ghosts only I can see
