Lyrics

Voices
Voices are calling
Calling out
Calling out to her
By a name she does not recall
And yet she somehow knows
Voices
Voices are calling
Calling out
Calling out to her
Their words
Come from within her
Implanted
In her consciousness
She can't
She can't feel the pain
The pain they
The pain they inflict
Though she knows she should
Only the sensation
Of the impacts from the
Weapons her enemies raise against her
In vain
Memories shimmer, like light on rippling waters
Dancing and playing in her mind when she sleeps
Or what it is that she now calls sleep;
A state of mental stasis while still being aware...
Of everything
The memories slip away, like ice melting through her consciousness
Again the memories appear,
She thought they were dreams,
But faces and voices and warmth,
Feels so real
The warmth of touch that now seems so foreign
Is everything that is known and treasured
The voices of a child and a mother
The face of a husband that conjures sorrow
But what are these fragments of a life
A life that she cannot see, hear or touch?
All that is real now is numbness and death
The death she inflicts on the enemies of the voices
The voices that order her where to go and who to kill
The voices that speak from within her mind
The voice that she hates and yet does not know why
Now it all comes flooding back
Her life, her home, her family
The sacrifices already made
But still they've taken more
She gave all she could give
And all she couldn't give, now they've taken from her
There's no way home; there's no place for her, now
There are words she cannot think, now
Terms that overwhelm her consciousness
"Family" is just a bitter memory;
"Daughter" emotional agony
Nothing more will they take from her
Now is their time to pay
