Drifting no rudder Currents pull me under Hurricanes and thunder Crashing waves break against my mind Drowning in self deprecation Tossed and turned I'm floating away I'm losing myself in this gale of self destruction Sailing alone in my ocean of thoughts, lost direction Vices are a wind pushing me into the jagged rocks of grief and sin Steering But I'm moored by fear Screaming Does no one hear Swamped in a surge of adverse emotions Listing to port, cast out the weight or become flotsam The sirens sing and take form Ignore their song, look for the calm in the storm Where is the calm in this storm Here in the tempest of my mind The clouds start to crack, the sun now shines Follow birds flying towards a land I know Leading me home Chase the light Where it grows Follow life Hope resown Chasing light As it grows I choose life I'm not alone
