The Puppet

She said, "Hello darling, it's me again" And I should have laid that phone down Let that be the end But before I could catch myself I was caught up in her Giving in, hanging on to every word Just like body and her hands I'm her puppet at command She pulls the strings and I come crawling back to her again She holds me up just long enough to keep me hanging on I put on my shawl and she let go She said, "Hello darling Won't you come in?"
