Just Like It Matters

She looks at the door

 She knows it ain’t gonna work any more

 And I know it, too

 She checks on the time

 Even though she’s already made up her mind

 What she’s gonna do 

 And just like it matters

 With tears in her eyes

 She stares out the window 

 And tells me goodbye

 And leaves me the number

 Where she’s gonna be…

 Just like it matters to me

 So many words

 Nobody listening

 Maybe we deserve

 To end up this way

 When all that remains 

 Is two hearts pretending 

 They don’t feel the pain

 Of walking away
