Backseat Drifting

Maybe I shouldn’t leave

My happy place

Who cares if I’m alone

Lost in space

I should probably feel things out

Instead of jumping in

I should probably take a second

To breathe before I begin

So why do I always fail to do just that?

Seems like I can’t ever do just that

So in the meantime

I’ll sit here and drift away

Crawl in the backseat and feel the wind

From the open windows on my face

Go to sleep

To forget

Drift to sleep

To pretend

It’s all ok

In the backseat is where I’ll stay

Drifting away

Here I am in my happy place
