Lyrics

I used to get there early, first one to arrive
Street light still illuminating, a periwinkle sky

This park of meadows and memories, with a little one growing up, now gone
She’d forget and leave her toys, which lay broken on the lawn

She’d run and skip and catch the wind               Chorus
Throw her arms around the trees
I could listen to her laughter
Forever in the breeze

We’d walk down the dirt path to the shiny lake, paddle through silence and sound
Our voices filled with rhymes and echoes, until the sun went down

From periwinkle sky and stars to a crescent moon
I could feel the cinching of time, knew it would end soon

Chorus

I would shade my eyes behind of tree of hide and seek                            Bridge
Never wanting to show how much I’d miss her when she’d leave

Chorus

And though I never see her now, I still rise when it’s dark
And see children’s toys left lying….. in the park
