I remember when we wrote "Silver"

We were like, "Let's try to make like a, a bluegrass song"

'Cause we wanted to kind of, you know, pay tribute to the bluegrass

Roots that are such a huge part of our kind of musical upbringing

And so we like, we wrote the song and then we

Brought it up here to these cool Seattle kids

And I, one thing that I love about the production that

You and the twins do is that it would've been so easy to

Like whip out a banjo and a mandolin and an upright bass

And to make it like straight up like traditional bluegrass

And it would've been cool

But I love the fact that you guys don't go the obvious route

It's like whatever thing seems like

What we should do, we do the opposite

Because it, it like pays tribute to it

But it doesn't go right into what's expected

Yeah

And I think "Tennessee River Runs Low" is the same kind of song

It was like, to me, "Tennessee River Runs Low" and "Silver"

Are like sister songs from, from these past two records

And I think our voices kind of, our voices naturally

Lend themselves to a certain era, no matter

What kind of music we're trying to write or play

And so, to kind of change the narrative in what people might

Expect us to do was really refreshing on this song especially

Yeah, it's an interesting thing

It's like the Beatles take on Motown and soul music

Never, it was never quite on the mark

And our northern interpretation of southern rock and

Southern gospel is a little, I think, off the mark

I mean, we're trying to nail it, but we're

Not nailing it, something else is happening

And, um, well that's one of the things I like most about

The musical combination of, of, uh, me and the twins and

You guys is that we actually couldn't be more different

True

And, um, that shows

But I don't know, when I first heard "Silver,"

The thing that struck me about it were the lyrics

I have always thought that, um, we have a problem

In our culture of discarding women as they age

True

And, um, you know, if aging is a privilege awarded to

Few, we certainly don't reflect that in pop culture

And so I just love the concept of, um, having

Silver in your hair being seen as a badge of honor

Yeah, totally

Being seen as a, as a kind of burden of wisdom

So I love that

We start this record out making a really important point

About, about women and, you know, where we're headed

Yeah
