If by chance or an accident

 A comet fell down on this fair continent 

 Golden embers fill the sky

 And cut through the tunnel between you and I

 Armoires, footstools, grandfathers clocks 

 Parade down that river accepting their lots 

 While old cowboys sit in their old cowboy town

 Dug deeper and deeper into the ground

 All is meaningless suddenly meaningless

 Would you know to find me

 And if by some celestial plot

 We miss that whole showdown

 By one lucky shot

 Inside a plane that soars so high

 We reach our hands as the comet flies by
