Somebody hurt you bad, Sorry you dealt with that. I don’t really understand Why things like that happen. Somebody stole your space Made you feel foolish But I want to hold your space, I thought that I’d proved it. I won’t let you blow out all the good we have, Retract, over one misunderstanding I won’t let you go and make a mess like that. Don’t go blaming fears on me. When you’re feeling all the hurt, Tell me that I’ve hit a nerve. I’ll take care with every word But I’m not the one that hurt you. I know I can bring things up, You don’t need to act so tough, If you let me near enough Show you I will never hurt you. Lie in the bed with me, Ease your anxiety, I know that the intimacy Can make you feel nervous. When I look into your eyes, It’s fight or flight It’s do or die And I’m you’re not gonna let that happen So your brain follows a pattern, And you grab the map you’ve used for every single past disaster.
