“Changed”

I wonder if today was the day that I passed away

What would certain people in my life who went astray think or have to say?

Like if we didn’t communicate since we became estranged

And the way it ended wasn’t ‘cause of me, although I changed

How some people left it gave me resentment and pain

But I learned to let go of it, that way peace is what I gained

Focused on what’s meant to be and look who I became

Though at time it bubbles up from my subconscious to my brain

It’s a thought that I’ve been havin’ lately

People exiting my life is got me halfway crazy

All I wanted was a conversation and some closure

Now instead I’m observin’ their behaviors and motives

Talkin’ friends who I really considered my brothers

And girls I was dealin’ with who revealed their colors

Even family members who disassociated; I act like it don’t bother me, but how could they not know I hate it?

People come, people go

But it hits a little different when we used to be so close

And I respect when people choose to go their separate ways

But to simply phase me out and not even communicate

Shit is messin’ with me

That’s not the treatment I deserved

When I care about a person, you can hear it my words

And through the times we shared, this is how they want to end it

I promise that I’m fine, not really just pretendin’, but
