I should sleep, but I would rather write a song

Night gets lonely without music, so I keep the speakers on

2AM, but I would rather sleep all day

Cause at night, that's when my monster friends, they eagerly come crawling out to play

That one awkward moment starts to flood your head

So you'll be up all night thinking what you should've done instead

And if I sleep, I know I'll never wanna wake

I got used to dreaming big, it was a terrible, a terrible mistake

But when I sing, it's like I'm singing with my friends

Even though I know I won't be 'till this ends

And I could sit and watch old videos of you

What happened to the two of us? You left right out the blue

Or I could imagine all that never was come true

And I get jealous of the images, you see

No, I don't resent their happiness, I just wish it was me

Cause sometimes it's like I'm searching for a key

Oh, I miss those campfire sing-alongs

I miss the, miss the company

But when I sing, it's like I'm singing with my friends

And I know I'll get to see them when this ends

But this night, it could be long

So I guess I'll write a song

Even though there's no one to sing along

Wanna try and make-believe

I'm a wizard with a secret up my sleeve

Or some giant far away

Hoping for a place where maybe he could stay

And what if I were a better man?

Could I believe in a greater cosmic plan?

Is there someone looking out for me?
