Fire Escape

Everybody knew just why you left But still you tried to keep it to yourself And then you realised that no one cared Everybody's hung up on their own mistakes And even if they cared, just let them be Who wants that burden hanging over them? And now you are free to be the way you were It seems so long ago that you were there The dream returns While everybody is trying to find the fire escape You try to get a closer look and see if it burns Well, you could just walk away You're talking to yourself, oh how you grew You stopped reviewing every word you said Sometimes you can't make it on your own You write that down in case you will forget Well it was always easier to forget But have you tried of being there instead There's no use to fill your mind with clever words If you can't find a way to explain yourself The dream returns While everybody is trying to find the fire escape You try to get a closer look and see if it burns Well, you could just walk away Everybody's walking, you just float away Have you thought of joining, you might learn a thing Everybody's talking, you just dream away What were you expecting when you ran away?
