Little Blue House

I met you at 19 when I had the biggest dreams We talked about everything from cars to France to our future I said I want a little house in the county You said you'd like that too I take a look in the mirror i'm 20 walking down the aisle Looking up to see you standing there makes my heart smile I promise to love you the rest of my life forever and always I do You take my hands and say- I wanna start my life with you In a little blue house with lots of trees where our kids can run around And a porch swing with a tiny heart and my name right next to yours You said "I'll look out for you I swear that it's true you'll never have to cry Cause we'll be happy in the little blue house that I built for you and I I look at you in the mirror, I'm 43 and you're still mine With a family of our own and all we have is time I said I would love you the rest of my life forever and always I do You hold me close and say- My darling I'm in love with you And our little blue house with lots of trees where our kids all run around And our porch swing with a tiny heart and my name right next to yours You said "I'll look out for you I swear that it's true you'll never have to cry Cause we are happy in the little blue house that I built for you and I I watched us grow old together I watched our life through pictures I watched us fight the world and make it out alright I watched us raise our children You stood by me through the hard nights I watched my life with you but only in my mind I take a look in the mirror, but I'm not walking down the aisle I just turned 20 but now you've been gone for a while All the things we planned they never worked out But I think back to that day When you told me all those things that I wish you didn't say I guess that little blue house was a fantasy no you didn't have to lie No porch swing or a tiny heart with your name right next to mine You said I'll look out for you I swear that it's true you'll never have to cry But when you said goodbye, you took away that little blue house of mine
