Lyrics

Tried to write a song about traveling to the West Coast
But I've only ever been there a few times
No I've never seen the Redwoods
Never been to Palm Springs
But I hear that it's all pretty nice
No I've never been to Portland or Santa Barbara
Never seen the ships dock in the bay
The only port I know well
Is a Minnesota harbor
And for me it still takes my breath away
When I watch the freighters on Superior
It makes me feel so small
And they tell me that I'm landlocked
But I think I've seen it all
If I knew what it's like to grow up in the mountains
I'd say I see the forest through the trees
And how the land has imparted on me
All this ancient wisdom
But you can't fully know what you ain't never seen
But I've walked for miles along the North Shore
With everything I needed on my back
And you might call them foothills
But they're just tall enough
To teach you anything if you ask
When I'm looking out on Superior
It makes me feel so small
And they tell me that I'm landlocked
But I think I've seen it all
No I never spent much time on sandy beaches
But I've gotten pretty good at skipping stones
Into the biggest bluest thing
That I've ever seen
And it makes me feel less alone
When I'm looking out on Superior
It makes me feel so small
And they tell me that I'm landlocked
But I think I've seen it all
They tell me that I'm landlocked
But I think I've seen it all
