This Time

this time I run for cover with my love

I let down my arms before the fight

ready as we gently fall towards the night

this time

not dancing anybody's dance

I'm moving just the way I move

no upbringing envy

in a gentle, harmless frenzy I move

the only way that's true

climbing down the phosphorescent branches

of a tree of colours

I witness the staggering night

in a shallow dive I hit the sea of conflict

I wish I knew how it would feel to be free,

and laugh at the verdict
