What I Am

I am not my body, that's just how you walk I am not my personality, that's just how you talk I am not my hopes and fears, my interests, or my thoughts I am not my interactions, my virtues, or my flaws No, there was something else there first I am perspective, I am perception I am the sum of a million microscopic tragedies and lessons I am nature, I am instinct I am the puppet, stuck observing all I say and do and think I am seeing, I am hearing I do experience my movement, but I am not the one who's steering I am awareness, but I'm unconvinced I am the only thing I know for certain rеally does exist I am memory, I am emotion I am governed by a slew of vague biases and notions I am elder, I am kid I am the helplessness of ego caught in tow behind the ID That's what I am That's what I'm not That's all I can be That's all I care to be That's all I've got
