Lyrics

When a man has more cars than his space allows he adds on to the house and builds a car garage.
John had his built in the fall of last year, two cars and a lift it would hold.
The man that Johnny hired, his work he had revered, and he all but volunteered for the job.
He’d work the load of two, but he paid him like he’d pay you, though his eyes kept a reddish hue and a semi-glaze.
Ain’t it a shame that we all see different, different ways.
What kind of life are you living if you’re not adding to your plate?
Don’t you know it’s a race? But you’re just standing in place, ain’t it a shame.
Our Dude he did his job, only took a couple weeks. His mouth it caught the street when he saw that car.
An all-white Bronco, the same style as OJ used to ride, to park inside.
Johnny wouldn’t sell those wheels, but our dude tried to strike a deal, or at least plant the seed that, “if you sell it, John sell to me”.
Little did Johnny know, what really had been sown was a different kind of seed the wind had blown.
Ain’t it a shame that we all see different, different ways.
What kind of life are you living if you’re not building in a few breaks?
I heard you say it’s a race.
But you’re just standing in place.
Oh and ain’t it a shame.
Well that green it kept on growing, getting higher’s all it knew, and it wasn’t six months later Johnny’d see the boys in blue.
Bangin’ hard on his new garage like the wind that blew those seeds that incidentally had his face now pressed on cold concrete.
Johnny’s gonna be gone a while and his wife she needs some cash. Living alone in a one income home and too many cars to inspect.
But she’s got a plan, she knows a man and we know him as a dude, who’s now driving away saying still to this day workin’ hard always turns out good.
Ain’t It a shame that we all see different, different ways.
What kind of life are you living if you only value status you chase?
I heard the bank won the game.
You lost the picture ‘cause you worried on the frame.
Aint it a shame.
