Suppressive Fire

seems this battle lasts forevermore

can´t remember what theyre fighting for

got promised a fast glorious war

instead got fear, terror and gore

forgot which side is good or bad

thousands of comrades now lie dead

suppressive fire, artillery

relentless war machinery

detonations rage like thunder

as grenades torn bodies asunder

they sky turned grey

the field turned black

shellfire formed a barren land

trapped in the trench

orientations gone

the reaper takes em one by one

bullets fly above their heads

no escape from the maze of death

stand among corpses

almost deceased

nurture for the worms to feast

men swallowed by rain and by mud

mixed with vomit, dirt and blood

explosions gas, non-stop vibrations

nerve damage, lung irritations

never felt that lost before

this nightmare wont stop nevermore

the cannons blasting ever on

countless hours until dawn

victory of great illusion

shellshocked men lost in confusion

soon their names shall be forgotten

killed in action, lost and rotten

by the battlefield entombed

by a remorseless war consumed
