He taught me so much
Like how to tie my shoes
And drink from the garden hose
He wanted me to learn to do it for myself
because one day he would not be around
From him I get my sense of style
And that everything has a consequence
But most of all he taught me how to love
He taught me how to love without self
Well that day has come
Time to do it on my own
Put the lessons to task
I hope he was proud
He always had my back

Through the disappointments of having me as a son
