Days On Sunnyside

Well I grew up on Sunnyside Drive

Cayce, SC USA

Had my Nanny and my Papa living right next door and my best friend 3 houses away

I had a go-cart track in my Nanny's backyard

and a hotline from my room to their kitchen

'Til Papa broke the line with a cane pole backing out the driveway on his way fishing

Yeah man I love the memories of those days on Sunnyside

Walking to the park playing 1230 rock on the boom box by our side

We'd meet the ice cream truck, I got the go-cart stuck when it was my turn to ride

What I wouldn't give if I could relive those days on Sunnyside

Well I remember oh so well in the summer of '79

My best friend Chris and his family went to Chile for June and most of July

Had my days out of school but I had nothing to do

I was bored 'bout out of my mind

But the one saving grace I put makeup on my face and saw KISS for the very first time

Said man I love the memories of those days on Sunnyside

Walking to the park playing 1230 rock on the boom box by our side

And the day wouldn't end 'til Nanny called us in for Sesame Street at 5

What I wouldn't give if I could relive those days on Sunnyside

And I'd like to take one more walk to Mr. Spradlin's store

Or grab a piece of peanut butter fudge on my way out the back door

See my Mama's orange Corvette pulling into the driveway

Or see my Dad read the paper while he's watching the news, I miss it more than I can say
