My mind started to wonder what he’s been through

Was he on his way to his high school lover?

Or bringing the flowers to his late mother?

Did his grandkids just graduate from school?

Were vows being shared from his only daughter?

Was he ready to claim how he’s a proud father?

I wanted to ask all of this to you?

As she looked out of the window waving her last goodbyes

As she sat she placed her head in the palm of her hands

Music in her ears as I watched to understand

Why she was crying and if this was part of her plan

Was she catching a red eye headed back home?

Was she closing the door to all that she knows?

Did her partner give her the let go note?

Was it left over feelings from the night before?

Expected to win an impossible war?
