when i was a kid

i thought i would fall

in love at an airport

somewhere abroad

after missing my flight

but that’s not real life

so i spent my 20’s

falling in love

but after some time

that wasn’t enough

didn’t think i could find

someone like you to change my mind

right out in the ordinary

i found my extraordinary

i like you and i love you

at the same time

i’ve only had one or the other

never been friends with a lover

it all comes so much easier

than i ever thought i deserved

i almost gave up

it was too hard to meet

somebody i liked

somebody who sees

inside of my head

and finds beauty in the mess

 

but there’s something extraordinary

right there in the ordinary
