Lyrics

Them some days
Got corked and bottled
Stowed away for prosperity
It was inevitable
To take my seat at the table
Statute of limitations over with
There were those
Who painted burners
Those that breaked and
Some tracked on 4 track tapes
Some were late to the party
Some of us were well into rhyming
A roaring trade of stolen goods
Jackets and hoods from ramraids
Deals done with cash and handshakes
Supplied every item in my wardrobe
It was way more simple then
No one had a mobile or the internet
Those that rapped, we were a handful
While the streets were run by vandals
I tell you this - it’s best laid out
Slinky in The Gherkin grabbing handycams
I wrote this so it’s not lost from record
Some with cans, some hand to hand
This is just the past I’m remembering
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
I mean at sixteen
No clue what I was doing
And at seventeen
Thought we had poise, some class
By eighteen could drink legally in bars
By nineteen I had truly jumped the shark
From start to finish
Top to bottom
Partied super hard
In backyards and parks
Some breaks in shacks on the Fleurieu
Some chats with pretty girls, then cheerio
Laid tracks with Madcap, Risk and Pero
Made a little tape in Simon’s studio
Hosted some nights with Agent 86
And cyphered out there for the curious
Stood in front of speaker stacks
Did damage, and hearing loss
There’s no glitter, there’s no gloss
This is just the past I’m remembering
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
I loved a lot
Wore my heart on my sleeve
And truth be told at times
That shit’s been crippling
Now my skin is wrinkling
Not concerned with the scene
I shook most of my concerns
Discerned some context
Heard back from contacts
Told them with my pen
I was hustling
Not going down
But down I be doubling
I’m tired of fumbling around in silence
Trying my best to
Scrub the whole shit
Down with gumption
On benchtops and appliances
But frankly the scratches and marks
They’re the things that define us
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
Things looked different
It’s all changed
Things looked different
In those days
