I watch my sanity and safety float ahead and away from me like head lights on a dark cold road

Consuming shadows,

And then leaving a trail of shadows.

I stand there, motionless,

Watching the lights being chased by shadows.

And in the darkness my feet become my eyes and my eyes lose purpose,

So my eyes slowly die.

I reach out for a semblance of light with my fleshless arm,

Shouting whispers because I lost the voice of my soul.

I lost my souls voice amidst all of the noise.

The hooting,

Car tyres screeching,

Builders hammering,

Boss complaining,

Street kids begging,

Land grabbers killing,

Elections approaching,

Politicians shouting,

Teachers and students striking

Medical staff demonstrating,

Gas canisters exploding,

Guns popping,

Feet running,

Mothers wailing,

Fathers neglecting their sons,

Sons wielding metal pipes and guns,

Guns,

Guns.

I sit amidst the noise and scream out my lungs

"STOP!"

But the sound of pain echoes everywhere,

And so nobody can hear.
