Lyrics

Roy C. Sullivan was a United States park ranger who gained fame for an extraordinary and unfortunate series of events. He was struck by lightning a total of seven times during his lifetime. He was born on February seventh, 1912, in Greene County, Virginia, and worked as a ranger in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia
The bizarre streak of lightning strikes began in 1942 when Sullivan was just 30 years old. While he was inside a lookout tower, lightning struck the structure causing serious injuries to Sullivan. The first strike was so severe that it resulted in the loss of a nail from his big toe
Over the years that followed, lightning seemed to have a particular affinity for Roy Sullivan, and he suffered repeated strikes on different occasions. In 1969, he was struck while driving his truck which burned out the vehicle. In 1970, while working in the park, lightning hit him again, singeing his hair
Sullivan's encounter with lightning didn't stop there. In 1972, he was struck for the fourth time, and in 1973, he experienced the fifth strike which injured his ankle. The sixth strike occurred in 1976 when he was hit inside his home
The seventh and final lightning strike happened on June 25th, 1977. Roy Sullivan was fishing in a freshwater pool when lightning found him once again. He managed to crawl to his car, but the strike left him with several burns
Remarkably, despite enduring seven separate lightning strikes in his life, he survived them all. Sullivan's astonishing tale earned him the nickname 'Human Lightning Rod' and led to his inclusion in the Guinness World Records for the most lightning strikes survived by any individual. However, it's important to note that he never sought out these lightning strikes and they were purely coincidental events
Despite surviving multiple lightning strikes, Roy Sullivan faced personal challenges in his life. He struggled with depression and other health issues. Tragically, on September 28th, 1983, at the age of 71, Sullivan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His story remains one of the most incredible and unfortunate cases of lightning strikes in human history
