I was empty handed as could be in a screamed-in stair well

I started staying with friends or anyone else

When my tired heart shivered there was a reason, there was a list of couches in ruins above half closed palmists

I was living a dizzy bee life

Knocks on doors lose their charm in the night

A single night goes up again. A single night goes down again

I was light on breasts but growing more heavy shouldered

I was a child, hard to pick up a stroke

But once you have phones, there's no cursing evening's nature, I suppose

We are what we are and I was shelter to no one

Simple as that, I was shelter to no one

When mornings were no longer goldmines

In time it occurred to me, I'm tired of packing my bags and how I always have to ask

So I started drawing lines, connecting every time I let someone down

I let someone down

And what I drew, what I drew was surrendering of a darkness, lit by a dreaming of others I know and knew

Now sometimes, when I have time on my hands, I think about who I know and who I knew
