Plant Their Feet

We got babies in the back yard

We’re still children in our hearts

But been round and round the sun enough

to see a new day start

I’ve been waiting for a moment

to say what’s on my mind

Let’s stop and take a picture

Cause these times don’t rewind

Let’s live wild and free

Teach them how they ought to be

Give them something to believe

And give them dirt to plant their feet

There ain’t nothing in the textbooks

That can teach them what it means

To live and learn, embrace the turns

How life can sometimes seem

If we’re to set them an example

To chase their wildest dreams

Let’s take our own advice

And feed the doubters to the weeds

Let’s live wild and free

Teach them how they ought to be

All that matters in the end

Is we have laughed amongst our friends

We have lost and found again

That path that leads us through the bend

We have lived and we have seen

The raging river from the stream

Knowing somehow that it leads

To find peace among the sea
