Lyrics

(Lookin' at my Instagrams)
(Oof)
When I was little, a 1-2-3
When I was little we didn't have email
So I had to write a letter to my grand ma-ma
So I found myself some paper and I wrote down with pencil
And I stamped a stamp and put it in the mail
But oh, that was then
You could say I love you to the paper and pen
And then send it in letters to family and friends
When I was little we didn't have I-Tunes
You had to buy a record at the record store
You would put it on the player and then hook it to a speaker
And then sing and dance and jump up on the couch
But oh, that was then
You could say I love you when the record began
And then turn back the arm to play it again
When I was little we didn't have cellphones
So it was much harder to make a call
You would memorize the number
Or you'd find it in the phonebook
And your phone was often stuck up on a wall
But oh, hold the phone
Be sure that you wait to hear the dial tone
Because most of your calls were made when you got home
Now that I'm older and things are moving faster
I still like to buy records at the record store
But I will send an email or I'll be your friend on Facebook
Or I'll text a funny message from my phone
But oh, now and then
I will say I love you with paper and pen
'Cause no matter what changes, we'll always be friends
And there'll always be love and some paper and pens
