She’s a runner, always one foot outta the door

A single mother before she turned 24

And she wears a coat around that’s been to hell and back, it shows

That’s just her life and how it goes

She’s a beggar, serving food for a pocket of change

She’s a dreamer, writing songs for a ticket to fame

And she tries her best to give that boy the world she wants for him

But it’s hard with only pennies coming in

She feels cold when she wears that jacket

Covers her face so the tears don’t show

She hates all the repairs that happened

Different squares hiding every hole

Cuz you don’t understand how to heal when you\'re broke

Yeah we all got a past that comes with a lot of hurt and a little bit of patchwork

She’s a lover, but he took full advantage of her

A survivor, from the lines that he liked to blur

And she’s tried to move on, mend the holes he left inside her heart

But there’s always a reminder from a scar
