Well, me and an old black and white TV

A scared little kid way down under the weather

On the tube came a friendly familiar pair

Trying to haul a piano up a long flight of stairs

Guess the Good Lord healed me and I grew up strong

Fell in love with a beautiful girl before long

Years of happiness like a solid brick wall

Til the lies grew like ivy and I watched it fall

Now a broken heart is a constant thief

It'll steal any chance to find relief

But my two old friends took a little pain away

When they joined the Foreign Legion and the band began to play

It might not cure what ails you

Can't fix a bad romance
