Avoiding the Intersection

True fear is when

Everything you know

Is shadowed

By everything you don’t

True fear is when

You cannot mend

Too quick to tell

Every passer-by, of Dante’s descent into hell

You really think you’ll ever redefine?

Or put yourself inside a 14th-century mind?

It’s just your assigned meaning

A half-assed portrayal

We think we’ve got the right

to give everything a name

A reward for our knowledge rendered

But what of those things we can not see

Should we assume their purpose?

Are they meaningful as we?

True fear is when

Everything you know

Is shadowed

By everything you don’t

True fear is when

You cannot mend

So what’s the point?

I’m not even sure, what it is I’m trying to avoid

Block out the noise, don’t escalate

Wash my hands, and stand up straight

It’s all in vain, still, I can’t maintain

There’s a beast that lives

In every human mind

But we can’t comprehend

Its role in our lives

We wish our fingers on the pulse

So we can try to understand

But we can’t admit to ourselves

That it is dead

Can I connect

Where lies and ignorance intersect?
